Give your little one a celebration they are sure to remember!
So, we all know the craze surrounding the ever-popular brand and doll… Barbie! Recently The news Barbie movie was released and if you didn’t know you were quickly reminded of how big the craze is for Barbie for adults and children alike. Unfortunately, the movie was deemed not so kid friendly which sucks because my daughter LOVES Barbie! My daughter immediately asked me if she could watch the new Barbie movie, but being the parent I am, I passed on her request but did not want her to feel bad about it, so instead, I gave her a Barbie Beauty Bash with her and her friends with a much more kid-friendly barbie show. So, I will be showing you 5 tips on how to throw an epic Barbie (or any themed) bash for your little-one!
1) Set the Scene/ Choose a Theme
Creating a captivating atmosphere is crucial for any themed party. You will want to KNOW exactly which colors your theme uses and go off that. You can certainly mix themes as well. I decided to mix a spa theme with the Barbie theme. Since this theme was Barbie, we will demonstrate using that. Start by transforming your space into a Barbie wonderland. Incorporate Barbie’s signature colors, such as hot pink and baby pink, into your decorations, tablecloths, and balloons. Set up a DIY photo booth area with a Barbie backdrop and props, allowing the kids to unleash their inner fashionistas. You can even get sunglasses, play purses, and feather scarves. I did not, however, as planning the rest of the party I forgot. Oops.
2) Send Out Themed Invitations
Sending well-designed invitations is an essential part of any party planning. Choose invitations that match the theme and provide all the necessary details such as the date, time, venue, RSVP information, and any special instructions. You can opt for traditional paper invitations or use digital platforms to send e-invites. Regardless of the format, timely and informative invitations set the stage for a successful event.
3) Dress to Impress
For themed parties this is where it can REALLY be fun and takes the party to a whole new level with minimal effort on your part. For My daughter’s Boujee Barbie Beauty Bash, since it was more of a spa theme incorporated into the Barbie theme, I encouraged pink pajamas (silk specifically) or anything pink to wear, (although it wasn’t required) I personally do not like to require anything for parties because I want my guest to be comfortable and have a good time without having to break the bank. Even just the host dressing for the theme adds enough extra excitement. Me and my daughter wore matching adult and child pink silk pajamas to add to the theme.
Encourage your little guests to dress up as Barbie or in their favorite Barbie-themed attire. Consider offering a prize for the best dressed Barbie at the party, adding an element of excitement to the event. Furthermore, if this is a birthday party (my daughters was not) be sure to dress your child as the honorary Barbie birthday girl, complete with a cute Barbie-inspired outfit.
4) Delicious & Themed Food and Treats
Good food is an essential part of any successful party. A cute way to add some fun to this is to name the food and treats according to your theme. For our Barbie party we decided to create the notion the Barbie’s friends came together for a potluck and each friend brought food or a treat, so we named them after who brought what! For example, we named the dipped berries Barbie’s blissful berries, Polly’s posh pretzels, Deb’s divalicious donuts, etc. When choosing food, consider catering to the preferences of the young guests, while also offering variety for the adults. Finger foods like mini sandwiches (we made sliders and named them Barbie’s boujee burgers), a fruit bowl, cups, or skewers, and bite-sized snacks are convenient and popular choices. For added fun, consider incorporating theme-related treats such as cupcakes decorated to match the party theme or cookies in the shape of your child’s favorite characters. Don’t forget to cater to any dietary restrictions or allergies and provide healthy options as well.
5) Engaging theme related activities
Having engaging activities for a child’s party is a MUST but having THEDMED activities takes it to a whole other level! For our Party we had Barbie and Spa-inspired Games and Activities:
Incorporating Barbie-inspired games and activities will keep the little ones engaged and entertained throughout the party. Here are some ideas to consider:
a) Barbie Fashion Show/station: Encourage the children to design their own Barbie outfits using paper, fabrics, and craft supplies. Host a fashion show where they can showcase their creations. If you do not want to go through the trouble, you can opt for getting a set of fancy Barbie clothes and have the children design looks for the Barbie’s for the dolls to attend the event, like we did!
b) Pin the Tiara: A twist on the classic party game, ‘pin the tiara on Barbie’ can be a hit. Blindfold the participants and have them try to place a tiara on a Barbie poster. This was not a birthday party so we passed on this.
c) Spa like activities: A spa theme is the PERFECT co-theme for a boujee Barbie party, so we had a whole spa service with a theme menu included. The girls enjoyed Miracle massages on a pink massage table, a fantastic ferry facial, which included a nice ferry mist, and miraculous manicures where they got to get cute press on nails! We also did fabulous face painting and temporary tattoos that included sayings like BFF.
d) Barbie Movie Time: Set up a designated movie area where the children can enjoy a Barbie movie marathon. Provide cozy pillows and blankets for a comfortable viewing experience. We enjoyed Ken’s Kettle Corn while indulging in the new Barbie Netflix Series and watching Life-size with Tyra Banks.
Bonus: Goody Bags with Panache
Sending your little guest’s home with memorable party favors can be an excellent way to end the celebration. Fill goody bags with small Barbie dolls, Barbie-themed accessories, stickers, or temporary tattoos. You can also include personalized thank you notes or photo prints from the photo booth to create a lasting memory for each attendee. This can most definitely be skipped if you are not hosting a birthday party. Since this was not a birtghday party we just did temporary tattoos.
Conclusion
Planning an epic Barbie party for your child can be a delightful experience. By incorporating these tips, you can create an immersive and magical celebration that your child and their friends will cherish. Remember to embrace the Barbie theme in every aspect of the party, from decorations to games, themed outfits and even treats. With a little imagination, creativity, and attention to detail, your child’s Barbie party is sure to be a huge success!
